Kathryn "Kay" Bell Rowley, 92, formerly of Spartansburg, died on Wednesday, Jan 31, 2007, in the Corry Manor Nursing Home. She was born on July 8, 1914, in Canaseraga, NY, a daughter of the late Joseph and Eathel Bell. Mrs Rowley was raised and educated in Canaseraga, NY, where she graduated from high school. Following graduation she moved to Spartansburg. She was proud to be the town assessor for over 20 years. She had word at the Spartansburg School cafeteria for many years until her retirement. Mrs Rowley was active helping in the home show building at the Spartansburg Community Fair and enjoyed working with flowers. In her earlier days, she enjoyed hunting and the outdoors, also ice skating on the Sparta pond. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Guy H Rowley, on Nov 25, 1999 (sic) [Oct 25, 1999]. They were married in Erie on Nov 5, 1940. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Ann Henry; a son-in-law, Jim Wagner; and a grandson, Chadwick Ranyak. Mrs Rowley is survived by three daughters, Ann Louise Wagner and Marian Drake, both of Spartansburg; and Jean Sandoval and her husband Raymond of Long Beach, Calif. Also surviving are five grandchildren.., four great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Friends may call at the Bracken Funeral Home, 211 Mechanic St, Spartansburg...and may attend a funeral service there on Saturday at 11 am with Rev Diane Olson, pastor of the Spartansburg United Methodist Church and the Parade Street United Methodist Church in Union City, officiating. Burial will be made in Rose Hill Cemetery in Spartansburg.
