Grand Duchess Maria Kyrillovna of Russia was the daughter and eldest child of Grand Duke Kyrill Vladimirovich of Russia and his wife, a grandson of Tsar Alexander II, and Princess Victoria Melita of Edinburgh, a granddaughter of Queen Victoria. She was married at Coburg on November 25, 1925 to Friedrich Karl Eduard Erwin, 6.Fürst zu Leiningen, by whom she had seven children. Her husband died as a prisoner of war in the Soviet Union.
