SHEPPARD, Jim Henry of Rockdale. Age 69. Died 11/4/1963 (Monday) unexpectedly at his home. Services held (Tuesday) in Phillips & Luckey Funeral Chapel, Rockdale. Burial in the Conoley Cemetery near Thorndale. Rev. W.F. Griggs, former pastor of Hillcrest Baptist Church of Rockdale assisted by Rev. George Doss, pastor of the Pleasant Retreat Methodist Church, officiated. Phillips & Luckey in charge of arrangements. Pallbearers were grandsons.

Jim Henry was BORN 4/16/1894 near Cameron, the son of the late Will and Ida Sheppard. Married Maud Morgan Gambrell on 1/27/1929. Member of the Methodist Church at an early age and had been a faithful member until his health failed 3 years ago. He was affiliated with the Lomberth Methodist Church in Dallas at the time of his death. He was well known in the area having spent most of life in Thorndale and surrounding communities.

(Bill) Sheppard of Thorndale, Bob Sheppard of Dallas; 2 step-sons, Willis Gambrell of Thorndale, Jimmy Gambrell of Port Arthur; step-daughter, Mrs. Edith Bowin of Port Arthur; 24 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; 3 sisters, Mrs. Mary Logan, Dallas; Mrs. Kathie Bell Hanks, Dallas; Mrs. Fannie Lee Mundine of Pleasant Hill; 2 brothers, Archie Sheppard, Dallas and Joe Sheppard of Austin; number of nieces and nephews.
