Funeral Rites for Civil War Veteran on Sunday

Jacob Alfred Frye, 85, one of Johnson county's few remaining veterans of the war between the states, died Wednesday at Colorado Springs, Col., and his body has been brought home for burial.
Mr. Fry was born November 17, 1843, in Johnson county and lived in the county all of his life until 15 years ago when he moved to Colorado Springs. During the Civil war he was a member of Company K, 22nd Iowa Volunteer Infantry, and he also was a lifelong member of the Christian church, having joined at Frank Pierce at an early age.
In 1867 he married Miss Amanda Buckingham, and to them were born six children, of whom three survive. Mrs. Frye died in 1910. The surviving children are Mrs. Florence Gilmore, J. C. Frye and Mrs. Grace Lengreder, all of California.
Mr. Frye leaves also three sisters, Mrs. Cora Mooney of Iowa City, Mrs. Ransom Gosnell of Frank Pierce and Mrs. Eva Strickler of Centerville, Ia., one grandson, Raymond Gilmore of California, and a number of other relatives.
The funeral will be held Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Frank Pierce Christian Church, with the Rev. Guy H. Findly of Iowa City officiating, and burial will be in the cemetery adjoining the church. The body arrived here Saturday and will lie at the Beckman funeral home until noon Sunday.
