Gaston Tavern Owner Killed in Road Crash
HILLSBORO--A head-on collision killed Gerald Frye, about 56, Gaston tavern owner, on the Tualatin Valley highway shortly after noon Monday. Fry's automobile collided just west of Cornelius with a car occupied by Mr. and Mrs. Mark Wheltley, Netarts. Frye apparently was killed out right. Mr. and Mrs. Wheltley were hospitalized here, their injuries not determined at once.

Gerald Fry, Past Kalona Resident, Dies in Oregon
KALONA--Relatives here have received word of the death of Gerald Fry in Oregon, Monday, August 21. Mr. Fry, who is a native of this community, having been born at Frytown on January 1, 1892 the son of John and Agnes Fry, has resided in Oregon for many years. He died of a heart attack while driving his car near Cornelius.
Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Ila Fry, one son, Murray, two step-daughters, Sally [biological granddaughter] at home, and Mrs. Marine Watson [birthname: Marine Cora Haverly], all of Oregon; seven brothers, George, Harry and Frank of Kalona, Fred and Earl of Iowa City, Clifford of Cedar Rapids, and Leo of Powers, Ore., two sisters, Mrs. H. J. Bigelow of Kalona and Mrs. Verbena Gosnell of Cedar Rapids, besides a host of nieces and nephews.
