Henry Edward Blitch, 70, died Jan. 16 at his residence. He was born and reared in Thunderbolt and graduated from Savannah High School and Armstrong College. He was employed by Burroughs Corp. and rose to the post of engineering manager assigned to Orlando, Fla., for the original planning and responsibility for the telemetry of Cape Canaveral. He was later in Detroit, Evansville, Ind., Chattanooga, Tenn., and Nashville, as a branch field engineering manager. He retired in Atlanta from district/regional staff. He operated Bonaventure Travel in Atlanta until retiring and returning to Savannah in 1994. He was active in American Society of Travel Agents, American Heart Association and the local "Mended Hearts," serving as an officer and editor of the monthly newsletter. He was waiting for a kidney transplant and became a speaker at every opportunity to educate and encourage organ donation. SURVIVORS: his wife, Betty Jo Tomlinson Blitch of Savannah; daughters and sons-in-law, Janiece and Steve Setzer of Moncks Corner, S.C., and Claire and Fred Buchanan of Greenville, S.C.; son and daughter-in-law, Tim and Jill Blitch of Atlanta; a sister, Jessie Kodack of New York; five granddaughters and three grandsons. VISITATION: 6-8 p.m. today at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel. FUNERAL: 2 p.m. Tuesday at Isle of Hope Baptist Church, burial in Bonaventure Cemetery.
