Effie Battle Kendall Dodgen of Spartanburg, SC, died early morning, April 27, 1941.

A native of Alabama, daughter of John Marshall Kendall (1860–1924) and Sarah "Sallie" Jennings Kendall (1866–1944); wife of Robert Wesley Dodgen (1876–1940), married in 1906.

A graduate of New England Conservatory of Music.

Survivors include her daughters, Sarah Dodgen Gordon (1907-1991) and Mary Read Dodgen Few (1912–1992); sister, Jennie Kendall Dean (1886-1965); and brothers, Joseph Jennings Kendall (1890–1944), James Turner Kendall (1893–1949), and John Marshall Kendall (1895–1929).
