Lifetime Garfield Resident Dies Sunday

Mrs. Lester Joy, 61, a lifetime resident of Garfield Table, died at her home on Garfield Table on Sunday, October 31 after a lengthy illness.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday, November 3 at 2:00 p. m., from the Methodist Church in Arnold, with Rev. E. N. Littirell in charge.

Mrs. Victor Auble and Mrs. Ray Ricketts, accompanied by Leoda Pearce, sang during the services.

Pall bearers were Bert Pearce, Myron Auble, Arthur Henry, Ted Andre, Howard Robinson and Henry Eastburn.

Burial was in the Garfield cemetery.

Bertha E. Joy, wife of Lester H. Joy, was born February 8, 1887 in Garfield Table and died October 31, 1948 at the age of 61 years, 9 months and 20 days.

She was a lifetime resident of Garfield, with the exception of three years spent in North Platte.

She was a member of the Methodist Church and served as president of the Womens Society of Christian Service for several years and held other offices in the society. She served her community, and churches as long as her health permitted.

She was married to Lester Joy at Garfield on February 20, 1907 and two sons were born to this union.

Besides her husband, she is survived by her two sons; Donald R. and Dale M., of North Platte; two sisters, Mrs. Minnie Dillon and Mrs. Lillie Claudson, both of Arnold; one brother, Isaac Smith of North Platte; four grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
