Retired lanscape gardener and railroader, Mr. Jacob Henry Hoffman, of 775 Salida Ct, died in Green Cross Hospital where he had been a patient for 18 days. He was 76.

Born in Catawissa, Pennsylvania to the late Henry and Lillian Kelchner Hoffman, he had lived in Akron 45 years. Mr. Hoffman retired three years ago. He had formerly worked tihe the Nickle Plate Railroad at Conneaut, Ohio and the Akron, Canton & Youngstown Railroad.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Alice Lucretia Hathaway Hoffman in January of 1956. He is survived by his son, Jacob Jr. of Akron; four daughters, Mrs. Ada Harlin of Cuyahoga Falls, Mrs. Ida Nix and Mrs. Harriett Trevor of Akron; and Mrs. Lillian Miller in Pennsylvania; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Sarah Johnson in Pennsylvania.

Services in Adams Funeral Home with burial in Conneaut, Ohio.
