"At Birnamwood, Thursday, March 2, occurred the death of one of this city's early pioneers, Platt Rudd, aged 81 years. Deceased located here early in the 50's and engaged in the hardware business, remaining until 1875 when he removed to Birnamwood. Mr Rudd was an exemplary man, respected by all who had the pleasure of his acquaintance. Three daughters survive him: Mrs. A Meiklejohn of this city., Mrs Snell of Birnamwood and Mrs Wallace Nye of Menneapolis (sic). The funeral services were held at Birnamwood. Platt Rudd married 1st Almira Burr of Saratoga Co NY and married 2nd Abby Jane, sister of Almira.
