Richard O. Spatz, age 82, of Rockford passed away Thursday June 1, 2017. Born in Rockford July 3, 1934 son of Charles & Doris Spatz (Putney). Graduate of Rockford West High School class of 1953 and Rock Valley College with honors. He married Ellen L. Stevenson on December 31, 1954. He served in the US Army, August 1954 to June 1956. A proud member of Central Christian Church and Winnebago Masonic Lodge. He loved to read, work in his yard and was a life long Cubs fan. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Ellen L. Spatz (Stevenson); son, Richard "Russ" (Kim) Spatz; daughter-in-law, Pam Spatz; sisters, Donna Harder and Diane (Robert) Smith; grandchildren, Eric, Danielle, Christopher & Stephine Spatz; great grandchildren, Morgan, Lilly & Charley; as well as numerous nieces & nephews. He is predeceased by his son, James Spatz; and grandchildren, Robert (Courtney) Spatz.
Memorial Services to be held on Saturday June 24, 2017 at 2:30 PM at Central Christian Church, 6595 Guilford Rd., Rockford, with visitation from 1:00 PM until the time of services at 2:30 PM. Cremation rites accorded.
