DOWAGIAC, May 18—Mrs. Retta Davis, 78, died Wednesday night at her home in Silver Creek township, near Sister Lakes. Funeral services will be held at 2 p. m. Sunday at the McLaughlin funeral home in Dowagiac, with the Rev. Norval Lyon of the Church of Christ officiating. Burial will be in Riverside cemetery. Mrs. Davis was born in Springfield, O., on Feb. 14, 1872, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Artis. Her husband preceded her in death in 1947, at the age of 90. She is survived by two sons, Charley and Frederick, both at home, and a brother, George Artis, of Mt. Vernon, Ill. The Davis family is well known in the Sister Lakes-Indian lake area, where they have operated a large farm for many years. Friends may call at the McLaughlin funeral home.
