He was the son of Martin and Maude (Lineaweaver) Brown of Otego. He is predeceased by his parents and older brother.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth (VanVranken); his three sons, David, Martin and Willis; and his sister, Dorothy Loyer, seven grandsons, two great grandsons and a great granddaughter due any day. He also leaves behind one niece and numerous nephews.
Laverne graduated High School in Otego. He retired from Amphenol in Sidney following a 27 year career. He was a longtime member of the Otego Presbyterian Church and was an honorary member of the WCTU.
He is remembered for his striking blue eyes, His gardening (particularly for his garlic), and as an avid camper, fisherman, hiker and hunter. He also loved shooting rubber bands at his grandchildren.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, February 24, 2010 in the Bookhout Funeral Home, 34 River Street, Otego from 2:00 to 4:00 PM and 6:00 to 8:00 PM. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 25, 2010 at 1:00 PM in the Otego Presbyterian Church, River Street, Otego with the Reverend Doug Horne officiating. Flowers will be accepted and can be sent to the Bookhout Funeral Home, 34 River Street, Otego.
