Patrick arrived in the U.S. in 1856, first locating in Newry, Blair County, PA. After four years he moved to PIttsburgh where he served as the steward of the Scott House for five years before moving to Altoona to become steward at the Logan House for the next 3 years. In 1869 he then started to work in the company's shops.
His obituary stated that he was "a courteous gentleman, a good citizen and a consistent member of the Catholic Church." He was survived by his wife, seven children, brothers Timothy and Martin of Altoona, and sister Anna Cassiday also of Altoona.
