Mrs. Weston J. (Lauree E.) Betts, 54, longtime resident of Redondo Beach, died in a local hospital Friday after a long illness. Born in Ankeny, Iowa, she came to Tacoma in 1907 with her parents attending school in Fern Hill, Weyerhaeuser (sic) and Eatonville. With her husband she operated the picnic park and roller rink in Redondo from 1920 on, and the past few years they had operated "Kiddyland" at Woodland Park in Seattle.
She was active in the Dorcas Ladies Aid Society of Redondo, and Eastern Star chapter of Redondo and Des Moines.
Surviving are her husband; two daughters, Mrs. Evelyn Pattison of Spokane and Mrs. Barbara Englund of Redondo; a son, Byron L. of Redondo; two sisters, Mrs. Robert Geddes of Puyallup and Mrs. James Storrs of Newburg, Ore.; three brothers, Eldon Burgess of Medford, Ore., Kenneth Burgess of Willits, Calif., and Merle Burgess of Vancouver, Wash., and eight grandchildren.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the C.C. Mellinger Funeral Home, with Burial following in Sumner Cemetery.
