GREENSBORO - Mrs. Viola Whitt Parker, 85, of Tower Road, passed away Sunday, March 4, 2007, at Blumenthal Nursing Center.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 8, at Lambeth-Troxler Funeral Service Chapel, 300 West Wendover Avenue, Greensboro, with Reverend Dianne W. Marsden presiding. Internment will follow the service at Guilford Memorial Park.

Mrs. Parker was born February 2, 1922, in Greensboro to Walter Rankin Whitt and Dora Morgan Whitt and was retired from Cone Mills, White Oak Plant.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Lester Parker, Sr. in 1975; two brothers, Walter and George Whitt; sisters, Mae Newman, Frances Holland, Rachel Holmes, Blanche Roberts and Virginia Whitt.

Mrs. Parker is survived by her sons, James L. Parker, Jr. (Faye) and Danny R. Parker (Joan); sister, Dora Whitt Rice, all of Greensboro; grandchildren, James Michael Parker (Susan), Robert Marc Parker (Libbi), Holly Parker Ellwanger (Eric); great-grandchildren, Brittany Parker, Roman Parker, Parker and Davis Ellwanger and many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 1until 2 p.m. Thursday prior to the service.

The family requests that Memorials be given to Carraway United Methodist Church, 1301 Sixteenth Street, Greensboro, N.C. 27405.
