On Sept 9, 1933, he married Neona BRIANS, in Okla., and soon afterward they moved to the Imperial Valley, Calif., then to Richmond in 1935, where he and Neona worked and raised three children.
Lester studied music in his younger years and possessed a good voice which he used in the Richmond Free Will Baptist Church, where he was a long-time member. His inlaws, his cousins and many friends always enjoyed his humor and wit.
Lester was a man of honor; for, in his parents' last years, he and Neona took them into their home and cared for both of them; then after their decease, they also cared for Neona's mother.
Lester and his wife liked to raise vegetables and care for a garden at their farm near Clearlake, which produced enough extra produce for friends and extended family.
Suvivors are his wife, Neona, of 66 years; one daughter, Glenda Hanks, two sons, Milton L. and Steven J.Purser; 5 grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren, and a host of friends and other kindred who will miss him.
