Lois Jean Richens
20 Sep, 1924 ~ 13 Aug 2004

Lois Jean Richens, born on Sept. 20, 1924, age 79, of Vernal was reunited in heaven with her loving husband, Melvin and their three children: son, Floyd Duane Richens, daughters, Sharon Louise Richens and Donna Arlene Richens on August 13, 2004. She peacefully passed away at the Uintah Care Center. She was a lifetime resident of Vernal. All her life she enjoyed the company of her family, the outdoors, hunting, trapping, fishing and camping. She loved to go to the sheep camps and to draw and crochet gifts for her family and friends. She made each family member a quilt. In her younger years she cooked for the miners and cleaned homes to make a living. She devoted her life to loving and caring for her family. She did all her cooking and canning on a wood stove until 2003, when her health worsened from diabetes. She had a heart of gold, she never turned anyone away, and she loved life. She will be greatly missed by all the lives that she has touched.

She is survived by two sons: Melvin Gene Richens, Leon (Alice) Richens, two daughters: Beverly Ann Richens and Verna (Keith) Peterson. She is also survived by twelve grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren. Also she has a huge extended family, Cooks, Pehaceks, Gross, Sorenson, and in-laws.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, August 17, 2004.
Burial was located in the Vernal Memorial Park under the direction of Thomson-Blackburn Vernal Mortuary,
