Mr. McNemar was a retired tugboat captain and a member of the Baptist faith. He enjoyed farming, hunting and fishing.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William McNemar and Evelyn Snyder McNemar; three brothers, Coot, Kenny and Darrel McNemar; and one sister, Genice McNemar.

He was survived by his wife of 47 years, Hattie Lee McNemar of Smithdale, MS; two sons, Billy Ray McNemar and wife Vickie of Columbia, and Troy McNemar and wife Carla of Smithdale, MS; three daughters, Patricia Faye Sharp and husband Jesse of Grayson, Marilyn Franklin and husband Charles of Clarks, and Anita Hazlewood and husband Steven of McComb, MS; two brothers, Gene McNemar of Pasadena, TX and Billy McNemar of Columbia; one sister, Marcelle Neal of Alabama; 14 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
