Funeral Of John Gibbons

John Gibbons an old and well known citizen of Bartonville community, died Sunday morning. He was 71 years, 11 months and 20 days old. His wife and five children survive, one of whom, Will Gibbons, is with the American Expeditionary Forces in France. Funeral services were held in Old Shiloh church at 11 o'clock Monday morning followed by burial in the cemetery there.

Funeral services of John Gibbons, well known old settler of the Bartonville community who died Sunday were held at the Shiloh cemetery Monday, conducted by Rev. Raymond Vernimont of Denton. Mr. Gibbons was born in Dublin, Ireland, in 1847 and came to America when he was 12 years old. He lived in Maysville, Ky. until 1876, when he moved to Texas. In 1881 he married Miss Nannie Isabel Hendricks, who with four children survives him. Mr. Gibbons' death was due to influenza and his wife and two daughters are very ill with the disease now.
