Born in Sellersville, she was a daughter of the late Norman B. and Alice (Nyce) Alderfer. A graduate of Souderton Area High School, she earned her B.S. in Commerce and Finance from Penn State University. She then went on to earn her Master’s in Education degree, and later her Doctorate of Education degree from Temple University.
Dr. Hooven was employed as a school teacher, teaching business classes, in the Pennridge School District for more than 30 years prior to her retirement.
She enjoyed spending time in Wildwood, NJ, where she and her husband met. A very pleasant person, she loved to sing hymns, sing with the car radio, and eat desserts.
She is survived by a daughter, Holly Moran and her husband Frank of Souderton, a son, Gary S. Hooven of S. New Berlin, NJ, two grandchildren: Matthew Antunes, and Heather Williams and her husband Brook, and three great grandchildren: Tanner, Thatcher, and Hayden. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Cathy Hooven, a brother, Dr. Richard D. Alderfer, and a sister, Eunice A. Collett.
Graveside Services will be held at the convenience of the family in the Hillside Cemetery in Souderton.
