Thelma married Florin Rex Nielsen June 13, 1956 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. While Florin served in the U.S. Air Force they lived in San Antonio, and Houston, TX; Sacramento, CA, Tucson, AZ and moved to Salt Lake City in 1959. Thelma, in partnership with her husband owned and operated Hansen Drama Shop in Salt Lake City. She loved to take and collect pictures, creating more than 40 photo albums of her family and friends. She was gifted in sewing and needlework. Thelma was a patron of the arts and enjoyed attending the symphony and ballet. She also loves to travel. Prior to her membership in of the Garden Cove LDS Ward, she served in many church callings and also served as a hostess to visitors at the LDS Church Office Building in Salt Lake City.
Surviving are her husband of Salt Lake City; a daughter, Kathleen (Jan) Stewart, Twin Falls, ID; a son, Dr. F. Rex (Jenny) Nielsen, Price, UT; and seven grandsons. Thelma was preceded in death by her parents; and three siblings, Carma Rae Black, John R. Davis, and Reta Cockayne.
A viewing will be held Wednesday, July 25 2007, from 8:30-9:40 a.m. and funeral services, 10 a.m., at the Garden Cove Ward, 1925 West on 90th South, West Jordan, Utah. Interment will be in the Hyde Park Cemetery, Hyde Park, UT. The family expresses deep gratitude to the Highland Care Center for the loving care they so graciously gave to Thelma.
