Married Malinda Robertson WELCH Bush (08/03/1801 - 04/15/1857), daughter of William Welch (1779 - _______) & Sarah "Sally" BARNETT Matthews Welch (1782 - 1850), on 06/21/1821 in Barren Co., KY;

He was the Bush family historian - most notably of the legacy of his father, William "Capt. Billy" Bush." He relayed many anecdotes & tales about Capt. Billy's Revolutionary war encounters, exploration adventures & hunting expeditions in Capt. Billy's early Kentucky settlement, many were written & recorded (& several original documents reside at the University of Wisconsin, Madison, WI);

Example:
Lyman Copeland Draper Collection: Kentucky Manuscripts, Wisconsin Historical Library:
[Shane, John D.] "Interview with Richard French," Montgomery Co., KY
12 CC pg. 201 – 210; Reel #84: Library of Congress, Division of Manuscripts;

"Billy Bush's settlement was on the river, on the _______
side, opposite Boonsbgh. In the winter, the
bears "hole up." Bush was in company with Michael
Stoner, hunting. They came to a hollow stump, with
a limb of a saplin that stood near, running
right by, close to the stump. Stoner at once rec-
ognized a favored retreat of Bears, and arranged
w. Bush, that [Stoner] himself sho'd go up round the
bear, and Bush, below, at the appointed signal,
sho'd shoot him. Stoner ascended the saplin,
passed along the limb that went up the tree, and
w. a stick, punched the bear till he came out.
There was only this one limb for him to occupy
and Stoner began to retreat. As he gave back
he harried its advance with his thwk, beating
it on the side of the head, and endeavoring
to chop off its feet, in which, last, he, in part suc-
ceded. He now raised (hand) the important
signal, whh: he did correctly, as he was making
his thrusts w. his thawk, crying out, zealously
to him, 'Shooot! Billy Bush, Shoot! Billy Bush.'
Bush shot, and the Bear tumbled down."

Elkanah Bush [1783-1847], a son of old Billy's, now in Gal-
latin Co., Tenn., told me this.
Mr. [Wm] Tandy Bush[1780-1846], another son, was engaged
in the Swift's mine business.
