Christian Bechdel came from York County to present day Liberty Township in 1790. He settled on the present (1997) Thomas property near Blanchard, which he purchased from John and Eleanor DeHaas in 1793. There he died on 24 July 1800 at 61 years of age. His wife Mary died in 1804. Both are, without doubt, buried in this cemetery although their markers, if any, bear no inscriptions. It was a family or semi-private cemetery in use until the early 1900's.
