A native of Belgium where she was educated, she moved to Chicago in 1910. In 1976, she moved to the Quad Cities to be near her niece and her family, living with Lenny & Jennie McWilliams at their home in Taylor Ridge for a period of time before transitioning to the Rock Island Convalescent Center, where she was when she passed.
During both World Wars, she was an active Red Cross volunteer, receiving recognition for her work from President Richard Nixon.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, five brothers, two sisters and her husband.
She was called Taunte Liese, which is Flemish for Aunt Alice, and she loved to sew.
