Merritt W. Seely, 70, 4507 Meadow Lane, died Sunday at a Sioux City hospital after a long illness. Mr. Seely was a high school teacher in Minneapolis before retiring and moving to Sioux City in 1960. He was born Sept. 16, 1895, at Canton, S. D. He attended Hotchkiss Preparatory School at Lakeville, Conn., and Yale University. He married Pauline Burns at Lake Okoboji in 1922. Mr. Seely was a veteran of World War I. He was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. Survivors include the widow; a son, Dr. Charles M. of Stockton, Calif.; a daughter, Mrs. Harold E. Jacobsen of Sioux City, and five grandchildren. The body was taken to the Nelson-Berger North Side Funeral Home.

Funeral services for Merritt W. Seeley, 70, 4507 Meadow Lane, will be at 9 a.m. Wednesday at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. Rt. Rev. Msgr. Newman Flanagan will officiate. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery under the direction of the Nelson-Berger Northside Funeral Home. The rosary will be said at 8 o’clock tonight at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Joseph M. Gantz Jr., Einer Hanson, Thomas C. Geelan, Lyle H. Krall, A. C. Dohrmann and Jack Donohue. Honorary pallbearers will be Harold A. Jacobsen, D. W. Verstegen, Edward C. Thompson Sr., D. A. Noble, W. V. Hagen and Roy Searing. Mr. Seely died Sunday at a Sioux City hospital after a long illness.
