Aleksander “Aleks” Haluszczak, 75, of Jersey City passed away on Friday, April 24, 2020. Born in Ukraine, Aleks immigrated to Jersey City in 1966. Aleks was a retired clerk for First Chicago Bank in Edison.

Aleks was a devout parishioner of SS Peter & Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church in Jersey City and very active in the Ukrainian community. He was always there to help anyone in need. Aleks was a member of the Ukrainian National Home and the Ukrainian Community Center in Jersey City. Aleks enjoy watching westerns, soccer, fishing, vacationing on the islands and spending time with his grandchildren.

Aleksander was the beloved husband of the late Maria (nee Czekaj); devoted father of Ann & Stefan Jacewicz, Alex and Julianna Haluszczak; cherished grandfather of Natalie and Nicholas Jacewicz, Marianna and Nadia Haluszczak; loving son-in-law of the late Ewa Czekaj; loving son of the late Aleksander Haluszczak and Genowefa Kmet; dear brother-in-law of Peter and Anna Wasko, Melania Tchir, loving uncle of Michael and Eva Wasko, Brett and Chrissy Andersen, Kevin and Andriana Turcotte, Nick and Laura Jimenez, Evanna Tchir and Derek and Nina Metaxas and their families; also survived by his godchildren Kristopher Eliasz and Lisa Ciappi and their families, 2 step-sisters and their families, and his canine companions Lexi and the late Kozak.

Visitation at the funeral home and interment at Holy Cross Cemetery in North Arlington is private in accordance with CDC guidelines. A memorial service will be planned for the future.
