Gerald H. Bean, 86, of Hanover PA and formerly of Hershey, passed away peacefully on April 21, 2020 at Homewood at Plum Creek Retirement Community. He was born May 26, 1933 in Stouchsburg, Berks County, son of the late Robert D. and Mabel E. (Meck) Bean.

Gerald loved his wife Miriam (Mim) more than life itself. They were wed 56 years before her passing on February 7, 2009. She was the center of his life and they were rarely apart. They were a beautiful couple and a wonderful example of what a strong marriage should be – full of love, support and family.

Gerald served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany. He was a 1960 graduate of the University of the Sciences, Philadelphia. He was a retired pharmacist and had been employed at the former Peoples Drug Store in Hershey and CVS in Hershey and Camp Hill. Gerald and Miriam were active members of the First United Methodist Church in Hershey for 50 years.

Surviving are his four children: Scott (Robyn) Bean of Boca Raton, FL, Gregory (Shelly) Bean of Hanover, Marcia (Joseph) Reed of Lancaster and Sally (Van) Neher of Medford, NJ; 10 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren.

Also surviving is brother Robert Bean (Connie) of Reading. He was predeceased by two brothers; Frederick and Roy, and by four sisters; Grace, Anna Mae, Dorothy, and Marian.

Services with interment will be private. A celebration of life event will be announced at a later date.
