He was the son of William J. Wilson and Maria Hanna Wilson.
In September 1889, he married Maude E. Glascott.
They were the parents of one child.
Their marriage ended in divorce in 1917.
On June 30, 1921 as Claiborne A. Wilson, he married Leonora R. Baldwin (1868-1952) at Cook County, Illinois.

Mrs. Maude Glascott Wilson of Washington has instituted suit in the Circuit Court here for a limited divorce from Claiborne A. Wilson of Rockville and Washington on the ground of cruelty. She also asks to be awarded alimony and counsel fees. The bill sets forth that the couple were married in September 1889 and excepting several periods of separation, lived together in Washington, New Jersey and this county until about a month ago. Mrs. Wilson asserts in her bill that the defendant receives $8,000 a year as Washington manager of a typewriter company and that he has other sources of income.
