Raymond graduated from Grenola High School. His railroad career started with Selection Crew in June 1951 at Grenola, where he worked for 2 years before being drafted. Upon his return from the Army, he continued his Railroad Career for Santa Fe in Wichita as an Apprentice in February 1955. In November 1958, he went to Clovis, New Mexico before being recalled to the Topeka Shops in April 1960. He retired January 5, 1994 after 39 years of service.
Raymond married Ruby F. Sweet on January 17, 1956 in Chautaugua, Kansas. She preceded him in death on January 29, 2018. He was also preceded in death by two daughters, Eva Mae Sweet in January 1963, Becky Sue Renyer on May 2018 and one son, Wally Sweet in May 2016.
Survivors include one son, three grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and his sister.
Cremation has taken place and as per Raymond's wishes, no memorial services are planned. Private inurnment will take place at a later date.
