Evelyn Louise Futhey, 82, of Grenola, Kansas, passed away April 26, 2016 at Via Christi St. Francis Hospital in Wichita, Kansas. She was born October 6, 1933 in Grenola to Samuel and Eva (Vickery) Sweet.
Evelyn graduated from Grenola High School. In 1953, she married James Clay Futhey. She loved her family and enjoyed spending time spoiling the grandkids.
Survivors include her son, Rob Futhey and wife, Lori of Grenola, Kansas; brother, Raymond Sweet of Topeka, Kansas; sister Shirley Gillespie of Grenola, Kansas; grandchildren, Wyatt Knapp and Elizabeth Johnson, both of Winfield, Kansas, Cristen Bahr of Grenola, Kansas, and Nicki Llamas; 8 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Futhey; daughter, Connie Knapp; brothers, Harold Sweet and Armand Sweet; and sisters, Mabel Coral, Dorothy Harrington, and Pearl Ewert.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 29, 2016 at the First Christian Church of Grenola, Kansas. Memorials are suggested to either Winfield Senior Living or the Cowley County Humane Society. Contributions may be left with or mailed to the funeral home. Countryside Funeral Home, 206 E.
