The birth and death dates for Isaac Flippin are estimates. Isaac Flippin was on the 1844 Monroe Co., KY tax list, living in the area of East Fork Creek, off Big Barren River, which was originally part of his father Thomas Flippin, Sr.'s survey. His widow was on the 1845 tax list, indicating that Isaac was deceased by then.

Charles R. Arterburn, a historian for Pikesville (Flippin) area in Monroe County, suspects that Isaac was probably buried on his home farm. He noted that the East Fork at Barren was 8-9 miles away. None of Isaac's family are buried in Fraim Cemetery in Flippin. Early deeds for Monroe County are lost and may have provided clues to the family burial ground.

In the "Historical Sketches of Monroe County" by Manilus Thompson Flippin (No. 7, 28 March 1889) was shared by Sandra H. Casteel from the Randy Jobe Files, M. T. Flippin mentioned that there were few brick-houses in the county, one of them being "at the old Isaac Flippin farm, on Barren River, built about eighty years ago."

He married on 30 October 1816 in Warren County, KY to Nancy Watt. Their children were: Milton A., Emeline W., Elsey B. GUMM, Mary Jane AKERS, Samuel Wesley, Thomas A., Francis M., and John C. Only two of the children, Milton and Francis, remained in Kentucky, while the rest moved to Texas in 1850s.
