Hap married three times. His first wife, and mother of his four children was Elida Rose Vanderveen. They met and married in Twin Falls, ID. on May 5, 1916. His Uncle Joel performed the service in his home there in Twin Falls. Hap's brother, Bill married Elida's sister Alta in the same ceremony.
Uncle Hap and Aunt 'Lide' were the parents of Verginia (Ginger) deceased, John (Jack) deceased, Elida (June)deceased and Thomas (Tommy). The marriage ended in divorce.
His second marriage was to Ellen Demo in 1945 which ended in divorce and to Drew Ludy in 1956. They were still married at the time of his death.
Uncle was an avid coon hunter. He and his brothers and a couple of nephews loved the hunt.
He also made such good biscuits that that was his job at the family get togethers.
Uncle, like his brother, Pearly Pete, had a beautiful singing voice.
Cause of death: Cancer. He died at UC San Francisco hospital in that city.
