Anne Louise Henderson Karren
1934 - 2020

Early Life: Anne Louise was born December 12, 1934, in Twin Falls, Idaho. Eral Woodland Henderson and Ruby Emeline England Henderson were also living in Twin Falls, and had one daughter, Beth, age 11, but were unable to have other children. Beth heard that a baby was available at the County Hospital, so she went right home to tell her parents. After about four days, the Hendersons were happily able to take this little Anne Louise home with them. They had her sealed to them in the Logan Utah Temple. Both parents were working and Beth was in school, so Anne Louise spent about half of the time with grandparents, George and Martha England, in Arimo. Grandparents, Benjamin and Dicy Henderson, also lived in Arimo on their ranch. Anne attended grade school in Twin Falls and Arimo. With the advent of World War II, the family moved to Salt Lake City, Utah, where they lived in the Avenues, then near Liberty Park, and finally, at 2045 Redondo Avenue. Anne attended Hawthorne Elementary School, Irving Junior and East High Schools. She loved the libraries, history, dance and music. When someone was going from Salt Lake City to Idaho, she would catch a ride to see the extended families she loved there. She played the piano, sang in the Acapella chorus, church choruses, the Book of Mormon Oratorio and was in dance groups.
Life’s Work | Service | Interests: On November 21, 1953, Anne Louise married Kenneth William Karren in the Salt Lake Temple. She finished her quarter at the University of Utah and joined him in the Territory of Hawaii in February 1954. They also lived in McAlister, Oklahoma; Ithaca, New York; Salt Lake City, Utah; Provo, Utah; Las Vegas, Nevada; and South Jordan, Utah. Most of their married lives were spent in Provo. She showed an affectionate, loving personality with babies, youth and adults alike. Neighbors coveted her delicious cookies and Concord grape juice from the garden. She liked horses, kittens, pruning shrubs, flowers and walking and talking in the early morning with other ladies. As a very active in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving as a very caring president in the Primary, ward Relief Society and stake Relief Society for long periods of time. She also drove to Salt Lake City on a weekly basis to serve as a docent at the Relief Society building. She suffered from arthritis and three back surgeries. In her final years, she had chronic leukemia and finally extremely painful acute myeloid leukemia. But she did not let pain stop her from working, doing, and loving others. Anne Louise Henderson Karren passed from this life April 14, 2020. She was 85.
