Elizabeth Henderson Steele, age 77, died March 9, 2001, in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Beth was born on March 27, 1923, in Arimo, Idaho, to Eral W. Henderson and Ruby E. England. She married Elbert S. Steele in the Salt Lake Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on May 3, 1943.

Beth grew up in Twin Falls, Idaho and attended the University of Utah. She lived in Salt Lake City while Elbert served in World War II. They lived in Southern California until 1986, when they returned to Salt Lake. Active her entire life in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she served in almost every leadership and teaching position in the Church auxiliaries. The highlight of her church service was a mission served with her husband in the Philippines, where she served with Elbert as secretary to President George I. Cannon, then president of the Philippines/Micronesia Area.

The rhythms of her life were sweet music to her friends and family. The singer now is gone, but her music lingers on.

Beth was preceded in death by her parents and a daughter, Martha Jane Steele. She is survived by her husband, of Draper, UT; a sister Ann (Ken) Karren, of Provo, UT; a sister-in-law Jean (Wallace) Witbeck, of Salt Lake; and one daughter and four sons: Richard (Marge) Steele, Salt Lake; David (Arva) Steele, Grand Junction, CO; Thomas (Sandra) Steele, Pleasant Grove; Mark (Peggy) Steele, American Fork, UT; and Suzanne (Wes) Roach, Clinton, UT. She is also survived by 28 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.
