Opal was a member of the LDS Church and served in many capacities during her life. She was a member of the Daughter of Utah Pioneers in which she held several offices during the past 20 years. Opal appreciated her friendship with the special ladies in the TOPS Club. She was reading volunteer for many years with Grovecrest Elementary, as well as seven years of service at Orem Community Hospital. Opal enjoyed traveling throughout the U. S. and Europe with her family. She loved to sew and cook for family and friends and was well-known for her special recipes. Opal was deeply devoted to her children and her extended family. She leaves a legacy of wit, wisdom and dedication.
She is survived by son Joe (Rynna) Ollivier, Palos Verdes, Calif.; daughters Jane (Doug) Olson, Eden, Utah; and Ann (Mike) Pennie, Cedar Hills, Utah; 12 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. Opal was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and seven brothers and sisters.
Many thanks go to the friends, neighbors, extended family and Hospice staff who cared for Mom in her final weeks.
In lieu of flowers, the family would suggest donations be made to Camp Mahogany, DUP at 410 No. 850 East, P. G. UT. 84062.
Friends may call on Saturday, March 7, 2009, at 11:45-12:45 a.m. at the Walker Sanderson Funeral Home, 646 East 800 North, Orem, to visit with the family. A celebration of her life will begin at 1:00 p.m. at the mortuary. Interment in the Pleasant Grove Cemetery.
