Mr. Hansel was born April 11, 1930, the son of William Price Hansel and wife Annie Catherine, nee Brown.

On March 19, 1948, he was united in marriage to Hilda Lee Parks.

He was employed as a mechanic for ACCO (Absorbent Cotton Company) in Valley Park. He also raised cattle and worked on his farm.

Mr. Hansel was preceded in death by his parents; two children, James Leo Hansel and Judy Ann Hansel; four brothers, Harry Hawkins, Charles Alvie Hansel, James Hawkins and Cleveland "Red" Hawkins; and one sister, Liza Todd.

He is survived by his wife, Hilda Hansel, St. Clair; three sons, Darrel Hansel and wife Jane and David Hansel and fiancee Mary Carter, all of St. Clair, and Allen Hansel and wife Joyce, Taneyville; five daughters, Peggy Protte and husband Roger "Squirrel," Leasburg, Sharon Coggins and husband Charles, Bourbon, Debbie Perkins and husband John, Hazelwood, Jo Ann Uzzle and husband Terry, Imperial, and Diane Hansel and fiancé Michael Blankenship, Bourbon; one brother, Walter Hansel and wife Linda, Cedar Hill; one sister, Maude Wenger and husband Carl, St. Roberts; 25 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews; great- and great-great-nieces and -nephews; brothers- and sisters-in-law; cousins; other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services were held Saturday, May 7, at Russell Colonial Funeral Home, St. Clair, with the Rev. Phil Turner officiating.

Burial was in Anaconda Cemetery, St. Clair.
