Married 1st: When she was 16 she married John P. Allard, Esq (b abt 1814) in 1840 in Allegan, MI. John was not listed with the family in 1850 Census. They had a daughter, Eliza, who was born in 1845.

Married 2nd: Harlow S. Higinbotham in 1852 in Allegan, MI. They had 5 children.

Mrs. Elizabeth Higinbotham – Mrs. Elizabeth Higinbotham died in Allegan, December 8, 1894. She was born in Danbury, Connecticut, January 13, 1824, and came to Allegan with the family of her father, Mr. Nirum Abbott, in 1835. February 5, 1840, she was married to John P. Allard, Esq., to whom were born a son, who died quite young, and a daughter, Mrs. Eliza Dwight, of Monmouth, Ill. Mr. Allard died in 1845, and January 8, 1852, she married Mr. H.S. Higinbotham, with whom she lived until his death in 1890. To them were born two sons, who died in early childhood, and three daughters, Mrs. F.E. Clock, deceased, and Misses Cora and Jennie, who, with Mrs. Dwight and several grandchildren, survive her. Mrs. Higinbotham was remarkable for her cheerful disposition and her patience in adversity. She was a great sufferer during the last years of her life, but never uttered a complaint. Her age was 70 years, 10 months and 25 days
