Abraham son of Wilhelm and Veronica (Bloem/Bloom) Knepper married Catharine, daughter of Jacob and Barbara (Hoff) Wertz.

Abraham obtained one hundred acres of land in the present Quincy township by warrant dated 7 August 1765, and seventy-eight acres along the South Mountain in the same township by warranted dated 12 December 1766.


Despite the pacifist doctrine of his church Abraham Knepper Sr., served in the Revolutionary War as a Private in the 8th Battalion, 5th Company of the Cumberland County Militia under Captain Rogers in 1779 and 1780.

Abraham Sr. was a farmer who had approximately 440 acres at the time of his death. The 1798 Federal Tax lists Abrahan Knepper Sr., as owning a stone dwelling house thirty-four, by twenty-five feet, two stores (the upper not finished), also a stone kitchen, fourteen by eleven feet. Tradition insists that construction of this was begun while Indian raids still occurring, and that loophole were worked into the walls for the defense of the workman. The stone two story house, which is still standing today, along the road between Mt Alto and Quincy in Franklin County, Pennsylvania, known as Knepper's Station. They had the Following children:


(1.) Catharine Knepper married John Benedict and bore three children: Peter Benedict; David Benedict; and Susan Benedict who wed Abraham Stoner. After the death Catharine, John Benedict married (second) Nancy, daughter of Jacob Mack.

(2.) David Knepper Sr., succeeded to the mansion farm of his father. He married Esther daughter of Frederick Foreman. They had issue: Frederick Knepper, died unmarried in Bedford County, PA.; Jonathan Knepper married (first) Hanna Davis and (second Martha McFerren; David Knepper Jr. succeeded to the mansion farm of his father, He married Esther daughter of Frederick Forman; David Knepper Jr. wed Mary Catharine Geesaman, they had issue: Mary Knepper wed John George Gift; David Knepper b.1832-d.1834; William Knepper b.1834-1834. George G. Knepper b.1835-d. 1909; Samuel wed Mary Susan Nicodemus and removed to Atchison. County, MO.; Hiram Knepper married Frederica Seibert Stull, he removed to Ogle County. ILL.; Judith Knepper b. 1841-d. 1850; twin sons b. 23 July 1843, died in infancy; Jacob b. 1844-d. 1863; Josiah b.1846-d. 1890, married and had two sons Edward and Seymore; Obadiah Knepper b. 1848-d.1933, married Emma George and removed to Kerney, Neb.

(3.) Abraham Knepper Jr. married, Elizabeth Benedict, they had issue: Daniel Knepper, married Elizabeth Reed; George Knepper, married a Lowry; Peter Knepper b.1793 d.1848 married Elizabeth Geeseman; John Knepper married twice; Susanna Knepper, married Joseph Geesaman; Elizabeth Knepper, married Samuel Reed; Abraham Knepper married (first) Catharine Sites (second) Mary Anderson; and (third) Elizabeth (Hess) Stover.

(4.) Joshua Knepper, married Mary Short and had the following offspring: Jacob Knepper, married Lydia Walk and had one daughter Caroline, who married George McCleary; Ephraim Knepper married Catharine Smetzer; Lydia Knepper married Frederick Dull and had one daughter, Melinda, who married Jesse McCumsey; Catharine Knepper Married George Walk.
