He enlisted in May 1775 at Salem, Wash.Co.NY. His regiment remained at Albany for two weeks then marched northward to guard the frontier. Stopped at Fort Edwards, Whitehall & Ticonderoga in all about ten weeks. Two large gunboats were built there. Was in & around Lake Champlain until after the surrender of Burgoyne. Had also lived at Halifax, VT
