Well - Known Monroe Auto Salesman Succumbs To Heart Attack

R. B. Whitecotton, 43, well known Monroe automobile salesman, died at his home, 510 D' Arbonne Avenue, early Tuesday morning following a heart attack.

Dr. J.T. French, Ouachita parish coroner, said Whitecotton suffered a severe heart attack around midnight. His body was discovered about 7:30 a.m. by a neighbor, Mrs. H. R . Runyon, who was called to go next door and inquire as to hls condition.

His wife, Mrs. Whitecotton was visiting relatives in California at the time of his death.

Dr. French said Whitecotton's half-brother, Dennis Chappell, stayed with him until 5 a.m. when he was believed improving. The coroner pointed out that apparently, Whitecotton was trying to go from his bedroom to the bathroom when he was stricken with another attack.

Whitecotton's physician attempted to get him In the hospital after his first attack Monday night but reported there were no beds available, Dr. French said.

He had been affiliated with Lennon Motor Company for the past 10 years and had been a resident of Monroe for more than 23 years during which time he was associated with several automobile dealers. He was born in Jonesboro.

His body was taken to Hixson Brothers' Funeral Home. Arrangements were Incomplete late Tuesday pending the arrival of his wife and relatives.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son. Ronald, 7, three sisters, Mrs. Robert Cashman, of Chicago, Ill., Mrs. E. T. Hastings, of Baton Rouge, Mrs. J. O. Robinson, of Jonesboro and five half-brothers, Morris Chappell, of Kelly, Brooks Chappell, of Wisner, Marshall Chappell, of Transylvania, Dennis Chappell of West Monroe and Bob Williamson.
