Professional Hockey Player, Olympic Bronze Medalist. He was a talented Swedish all-around sportsman who played bandy, football, handball, ice hockey, and competed in track and field. He was also considered to be one of the most talented athletes in the Gothenburg, Sweden, area during his active career in multiple sports. He was born Rune Arnold Georg Johansson in Stockhom, Sweden. He played in a total of 103 international matches and played at the position of defenseman with the clubs of AIK and Hammarby IF for a total of fifteen seasons (1940 to 1954). During the 1952 Winter Olympics which were held in Oslo, Norway, he won a bronze medal with the Hammarby IF hockey club in the Team Event while representing his native country of Sweden. At the World Championship level, he won a silver medal at the 1947 Ice Hockey World Championships in Prague, Czechslovakia, in the Team Event, a silver medal at the 1951 Ice Hockey World Championships in Paris, France, in the Team Event, and a gold medal at the 1953 Ice Hockey World Championships in Zurich, Switzerland, and in Basel, Switzerland, in the Team Event. He was also named European Champion for 1951 to 1953. Following his playing days, he worked as an ice hockey coach and sports administrator with the BK Nordia hockey club. He passed away on December 30, 1998, in Bagarmossen, Stockholm, Sweden, at the age of 78. For his contributions to the sport of hockey he was awarded the Swedish honoray award the Storra Grabbars Marke (Big Boys Badge) #29 in ice hockey.
