He was born in Goodland, IN on November 30, 1934, the son of the late Charles Earl and Delorus Faye (Sheets) Hoaks. He was raised in Goodland and graduated from Goodland High School in 1952. He entered the Indiana National Guard and served from 1952-1954.
Charles first worked for Powell Systems in Fowler for 17 years, retiring in 1996. He later worked in security for Smith Transport in Remington for 8 years, retiring in August of 2009.
Charles loved his Lord and Savior and accepted Jesus Christ as his personal savior in August of 1963. He was an active member of the Hope Wesleyan Church in Fowler where he had served as treasurer for the building fund and Sunday School program. He also was a former trustee of the church.
Charles enjoyed hunting and watching westerns on television. His favorite pastime was being outdoors mowing his yard and doing yard work.
Charles married Dorothy L. Godby on June 26, 1954 in Goodland, IN.
Charles leaves behind his wife; one son; two daughters; a foster son; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; three brothers; and one sister. He was preceded in death by twin granddaughters, Charlotte and Carla Hoaks; three brothers, Boyd Dale Hoaks, Alvin Hoaks and Melvin Ray Hoaks; and eight sisters, Hazel Robinson, Doris Jean Hall, Wilma June Holt, Vera Elaine Yenna, Charlotte Hoaks, Elsie Minnick, Earline Hoaks and Zelma Hoaks.
As per Charles' request, cremation services will be accorded and a celebration of his life will be held at a later date to be determined.
