Elsie Parsley 80, dies Friday in Franklin

Elsie Parsley, Franklin route two, died Friday afternoon at Johnson County Memorial Hospital. She was 80.

Funeral services are 2 p.m. Monday at Vandivier-Parsley Funeral Home in Franklin. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery.

Born March 7, 1892 in Brown County to John and Lidie Walters Coy, she was educated in Brown County schools.

She was married to Fred R. Parsley on Aug. 30, 1922 in Johnson County. They moved to the county in 1930. Mr. Parsley died in April, 1965.

Mrs. Parsley was a member of the Community Congregational Church and the womens guild of that church. She was also active in the Johnson County home economic club.

A daughter, Mrs. Mitchell Naomi Tasich of rural Franklin, survives. One daughter preceded her in death in 1968. Three brothers, Oliver Coy of Franklin, Hugh Coy of Shelbyville, and Elva Coy of Texas, also survive. Mrs. Parsley had six grandchildren and seven greatgrandchildren.

Calling hours at the funeral home are after 2 p.m. Sunday.
