Christian Dale Moved onto land at the end of Mount Nittany, near Oak Hall in 1790. He established what is now the oldest cemetery in the township as a private family burying ground. His stone is the oldest one extant at the site today dating from 1805. From the book Cemeteries of College Township, Centre County, PA

Christan Christian Deihl arrived in Philadelphia September 15, 1749 from Franconia, or Palatinate (Dutchy of Wirtenburg, Germany), on the ship Edenburg from Rotterdam. Since he was under sixteen, he does not appear on either the ships passengers list or as having taken the prescribed 'Oath of Allegiance' upon arrival. Also arriving on that vessel were Philip Henry Diehl, possibly either Christians father or other relative.
In 1767, Christian and Rachel Krebs (Regina Krebsin) left New Hanover, Pa. and purchased a farm in Springfield Township, Bucks Co. Pa. In 1773, they removed to a farm in Buffalo Township, Northumberland (now Union) County, Pa.. and in 1790, they removed to Nittany Mountain, College Township in Centre Co., Pa. Here, in 1796, Christian erected a Grist Mill and a Saw Mill. Christian Dale, ammased considerable holdings through the purchase of land, clearing the land and re-saleing.
Rachiel and Christian are buried at the old Dale burying grounds on the back hill of Lamont, Pa.Taken from Christian's diaries, we traveled down the Rhine from Heilbronn,Germany, the trip lasting 6 weeks. It was a very difficult journey having to stop at 26 custom houses where all our luggage was checked. We spent another 6 weeks in Holland where the high prices used up the greater percentage of our money and then we sailed to Portsmouth, England, only to wait for another 2 weeks to be cleared to sail to the new country. Depending upon the weather it took 7-12 weeks to make the crossing. Christian arrived on the Ship Edenberg, disembarking in Philadelphia on September 15, 1749. The Captain of the ship was James Russell. Christian was only 16 so he wasn't listed on the manifest but there was a Phillip Henry Diehl listed.
Christian married Regina Krebs (Rachel) on March 12, 1754 at the Swamp Church, at the time a log hut in New Hanover, Montgomery County, PA. Christian and Rachel also had a daughter, Mary Catherine Dale (22 Oct 1756 - Dec 1808), who married Lt. Nicholas Straw (m. abt 1775, Buffalo Valley, Northumberland Co., PA). They in turn had a daughter, Rachel, who married Robert McCracken Sr. son of James McCracken Sr.
