John Anderson was the son of Catharine Fokes Anderson and William Pinkney Anderson. His father went into the Civil War, when John was about three or four years old. His father was in the Hoods Texas Brigade and was killed in the Battle of Gettysburg on July 2, 1863.John married Permelia and they had two daughters Lela and Flora. His second marraige was to Rosa McFarland and they had two sons and two daughters. John's grandmother was Abigail McLennan Fokes who came to Milam Co Tx in 1835. Abigail was the sister of Neill McLennan. John died at his home in the country side near Milano Tx.
