The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Freedom Baptist Church, where she was a member, by Preacher Clyde Akers. Burial will follow in Forest Hill Memorial Park.
Mrs. Lanning was born Sept. 15, 1957, in Pittsylvania County, Va., to Sam T. Leigh and Margie Matthews Leigh. She was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by a brother, David Nelson Tune, and a sister, Nancy Ann Leigh.
Surviving are her husband, Jesse Gray Lanning of the home; one daughter, Shaila Lanning Wood and her husband, Jeff, of Lexington; a mother-in-law, Ruth Lanning of Lexington; one brother, Sam T. Leigh and his wife, Rose, of Colville, Wash.; one sister, Mary Brashear and her husband, Doug, of Touchet, Wash.; three grandsons, Josh, Ashley and Jeffrey; and her special dog, Puddin.
