Services were held at 2 pm today (Tuesday) for Fred Lasiter, 74, a pioneer resident and business owner of Wewoka, who died at his home, 220 West Tenth, Sunday.
Conducting the service was Rev Guy Ames, pastor of the church. Burial was in Oakwood cemetery, Stout-Sarber Funeral Home in charge.
Lasiter and his son, Bud Lasiter operated the Lasiter printing company located on West Third. The company, Wewoka’s oldest business operating under the same name, was organized In 1911 by Fred Lasiter.
He was employed by the Wewoka Trading company for a time after moving to Wewoka, then opened his business. He was a charter member of the Wewoka Rotary club and a member of the First Methodist church.
Active pallbearers were H M Ligon, Vernon Criswell, TE Burch, Henry Moore, Hicks Epton and Ben Perkins. Honorary bearers were J Read Moore, H W Carver, Allen Whitworth and the members of the Wewoka Rotary club.
Survivors Include the wife of the home In Wewoka; a daughter, Alta Mae Lasiter of Wewoka; a son, Bud Lasiter of Wewoka; brothers, Jack of Oklahoma City, O V 'Lee' of Decatur Ill., and Mack of Winlock, Wash., and one grandson, Lynn Lasiter of Wewoka.
