Dewayne Queen, Master Sergeant USAF Ret., departed this world on March 16, 2020, flying high into the wild blue yonder after a long and courageous battle with illness.

Born on April 11, 1931, in Haywood County, North Carolina, Dewayne was a patriot and a prankster, a fisherman and a storyteller. After twenty years in the Air Force, Dewayne retired to Pensacola, Florida, where he became known as one of the most successful salesmen in the history of Pensacola Chrysler Plymouth.

Dewayne believed in Jesus Christ and was one of the founders of the First Baptist Church of Toul, France, and the First Baptist Church of Bitburg, Germany. He had been an active member of Pine Terrace Baptist Church in Milton for over twenty years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Elizabeth Queen; sisters, Pat Queen Hipps and Joan Queen Kent; his daughters, Diane Queen, Deborah Queen, and Ellie Magruder (Richard); and one grandson, Jake Nickle.

Dewayne is survived by his beloved and dedicated wife, Sue E. "Suellen" Queen; daughter, Terrie Queen (Bill) Autrey; daughter, Shelly (Danny) Nickle; son, Fred (Rosa) Hoefer; twelve grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren, as well one on the way. He also had many nieces, nephews, other family members, and a many lifelong friends.

The family would like to thank the members of Pine Terrace Baptist Church for so many years of comfort and support, and the caregivers of Emerald Coast Hospice for their great kindness during this difficult time.
