John was born on August 21, 1940 in Lily, SD to John and Meady (Haugen) Aadson. He served in the United States Air Force from August 18, 1959 to August 31, 1979. He served in the Vietnam War. He was a past member of the American Legion and TREA. While in the military, he met the love of his life and married Noreen Cernohous on October 24, 1970. After John retired from the Air Force, he worked various places, including WDVTI, Brekus body shop, Fence Connection, Mountain View Nursing Home, and several local casinos.
John was in several bowling leagues throughout the years. He enjoyed fishing and driving in the hills. He also enjoyed watching the Minnesota Vikings, Boston Celtics, Boston Red Sox and NASCAR, being an avid Tony Stewart and Kevin Harvick fan.
John was well known for his humor and joke telling, dancing and singing "If You Like My Body" by Rod Stewart until the day he died.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Meady Aadson; brothers, Raymond, Eldon and Donald Aadson; sisters, Lavonne Solberg, Phyllis MacRae, Delores Solberg and Rosalie Aadson.
Funeral services will be Thursday, March 19, 2020 at 10:00am at Kirk Funeral Home with Deacon Greg Palmer officiating. Burial will follow at Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis, SD at 12:30pm.
